Steps to the Jewels Royal Garden (UK)
The challenge is to develop a design solution for the garden of Cambridge Cottage located inside the Kew gardens, located in UK in the suburbs of London city. The history context has is importance. The duke of Cambridge son of George III lived there. Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge was his wife.
They lived there after they get married in may 1818. Adolphus and augusta had 3 children’s. In summer 1838 they moved to Cambridge Cottage. George III gave his house to adolphus in 1801 when he was duke of Cambridge. Augusta loved Kew and spent a lot of her time outside. Playing with her daughter May Adelaide, and tending the garden. Augusta introduced 2 Lilacs from her family home in Germany and sought out new plants for the garden including rhododendrons. The family were life long friends with the director of the botanic gardens, Sir William Hooker, and his son sir joseph.
This brooch originally belonged to augusta duchess of Cambridge. The brooch is in the shape of a roll set with pink topaz and diamonds and has an oval pink drop topa.
I choose this brooch as my source for this garden, the Jewel. The moodboad is revealing the ambiance of the garden : view, open view, light, ecology, human exchange, pink, building. The garden will be a place to observe nature, by using recycling benches. I will use the space , invest the area, more freedom. I will act for the planet by choosing materials sustainable, recycled, or recuperation. A lawn of wildflower will give a colorful touch to the garden. bees will be introduce also. I choose silk tree to give a pink touch to the garden, well adapted for wedding, very romantic and delicate. Art will be present in the garden, a sculpture will be place at the end of the ramp before getting up on the fountain, on the jewel.
